Deborah Byck Weinstein

WeinsteinDeborah Byck Weinstein has been teaching Art at Block Yeshiva since 2009.  Mrs. Weinstein has taught Introduction to Studio Art at both campuses, and Advanced Studio Art and Advanced Placement Studio Art for seniors at the girls school.  She is a painter, printmaker, ceramicist and creates hand crafted glass at Third Degree Glass Factory on Delmar.

Born in New Jersey, Mrs. Weinstein grew up in Ridgefield, Connecticut.  She graduated cum laude from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York and immediately pursued her Master’s Degree in painting at the University of Cincinnati.

Following the completion of her degree, she took a life changing gap year in Israel.  During that time she connected with family in Kfar Saba, gained greater exposure to conversational Hebrew on ulpan, studied archeological sites in the Judean Hills, milked her beloved cows at Kibbutz Palmach Tzuba, and met her husband, Edward.

In addition to blowing glass and teaching at BYHS, Mrs. Weinstein has been the June Artist in Residence at Camp Sabra in Rocky Mount for four years.  She teaches third grade religious school at Congregation B’nai Amoona.  The Weinsteins live in Chesterfield with their daughters, two dogs, cat, Funky the lizard and a giant goldfish named Esther II, the surviving Esther-the-Fish from B.A.’s 2011 Purim carnival.
